The Windmill grounds are open to visitors all year
round. However, we must stress there is no
smoking anywhere within the grounds. Please
take any rubbish with you and please do not
climb on the Windmill.
Or come to one of our regular open days for a self guided tour and view
the machinery within the interior. There are also displays on the Windmill’s
history within the Roundhouse where you will find a mill related video,
which will also be playing as part of the tour. It makes for a different,
educational and in whole a fascinating fun day out in Surrey for all the
family
The National Mills Weekend is to advertise the importance of maintaining
and protecting traditional mills so they can be kept in good working order.
This is because some are closed during preservation however open on this
weekend. For us we have additonal open days to these and please see
below for these further times.
The Heritage Open Days is England's largest festival of history and culture,
bringing together over 2,000 organisations, 5,500 events and 46,000
volunteers. Every year in September Lowfield Heath Windmill open their
doors to join in celebrating this heritage, community and history.

Safety and access
To enter the upper floors of the Windmill there are very steep steps involved. All children (over 5 only) visiting the upper
floors MUST be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times. There is no disabled access beyond the ground floor.
Please do not smoke anywhere within the Windmill or hedged area, and take rubbish with you or place within the bin
adjacent to the refreshments. Please also follow the advice and guidance of the volunteers at all times.

Russ Hill Road, Charlwood. Off A23 at the roundabout north of Gatwick Airport, follow signs for Charlwood. Then bear left in
village opposite village hall. Postcode: RH6 0EN. Nearest Railway Stations Horley or Gatwick then get on Metrobus route 22.
Note Metrobus route 22 does not run on weekends or bank holidays.
